Meadow the Memory Lion
Artist: My Little Paintpot
Sponsor: Barringtons Funeral Directors
Location: Civic Centre, The Water Gardens, College Square, Harlow CM20 1WG
Meadow is a special sculpture on the trail, created to celebrate and remember loved ones. Inspired by the idea that memories continue to grow and live on, Meadow represents reflection, love, community and legacy. After the trail, the sculpture will have a permanent home in the gardens of St Clare Hospice, where it will continue to provide a place for remembrance and connection.
Across the sculpture are 300 individual butterfly spaces where dedications will be hand-painted on to each butterfly. Each one represents a cherished person, a meaningful moment, or even a much loved and missed pet. We invite you to dedicate a butterfly today for a suggested donation of £35 each.

Where can I find Meadow?

There will also be live painting sessions taking place during the trail period, with dates and times to be announced soon.
Created by
Jo Burrows, the artist behind MyLittle Paintpot, created the sculpture Meadow for the Lions on the Loose trail.
“The idea is based around a wildflower meadow whereby all the flowers have a meaning relating to remembrance/ the passing of a loved one. Each leg of the lion is different with different meaningful flowers.
Butterflies are obviously attracted to flowers as a natural pairing so although the concept is themed around memories of loved ones no longer with us, I wanted it to be bright, colourful and almost ‘busy’ if you see what I mean! There are also bees flying around alongside painted, patterned butterflies. There is also a shiny, metallic sun on there which will look good as an eye catching aspect to the design and adds a sense of warmth!
